ok i looked around the rules and did not see anything about this. but if a mod sees this and has a problem with it please just delete the post and contact me as to rules to the forum due to me being new.. thanks
![]() hello everyone. im just asking a curious question. i am currently in charge of "internet sales" for a junk yard i part time manage. We are pretty low tech in SC so its getting to the point were people in SC are just to broke and dont have enough money to even pay for $3 a gallon of gas that we are looking to put our name out online and hopefully get customers in other states and start shipping parts and what not . im sure you get the drift of what im talking about. well what im wanting to know , besides from this site. looks like a good site but dont see many replies to post ( keeping fingers crossed and hoping there will be some on this one haha ) do you guys know of hot spots you buy used auto parts? sites? ebay? or right here? im in the process of setting up a ebay store right now and looking around some of the bigger name forums and checking out what they suggest on were i should start out at.. now let me start off by saying we have a ton of hondas from the late 80s to late 90s that are for parts only. from crx hatchbacks to accords that im sure you guys would have a field day with. is there a mod out there that would be able to possilby talk about advertising on site? or is there a "guy who has what you need" on this forum? just picking you guys brains. let me know. need to go back to the boss with some info one were i should lean my keyboard towards.. if there is any mods that would like to talk to me or any forum users that looking for parts email me at lawrence.auto@gmail.com thanks Scott |

different people have different purpose for advertising,
some advertise more for branding/awareness purpose and didnt focus too much on conversion rate. most advertise to make more sales. For a start craigslist is definitely good since it is free. eBay has the huge amount of potential buyer. you will need to know who is your main target audience. - local buyers? - within US? - international buyers? Find advertising media that has access to your target audience. Find a way to keep track of your advertising dollars how well it converts, advertising online vs advertising locally in your newspaper/bulletin/magazine. online local classified, offline local classified. eg. local newspaper, when they mention 5% discount code NEWS, you know they are from newspaper. online sites, when they mention 5% discount code SITE1, you know they are from that particular site. go to local auto show, local car workshops, car clubs, give out your name cards, offer them discount for referring. words of mouth works very well. you can find out if local car clubs have any online community or forum, talk to the club owner. advertise in small local car online active community is more valuable than expensive ads in large international online community. list yourself in business directory, yellow pages. |

good ideas. thanks
yea its already an established business. biggest one in area, yellow pages, big customer base. but thinking of advertising as a whole other company in yellow pages just to try and corner the market cause the boss kind of has pissed off some people around town. Thinking might have alot of customers come to me and not him thinking its a different company. and they would have no way of knowing cause it would be only internet. yea ebay and forums are going to be my main way it think right now. till i can get it up and going. logging all this info in the yard is the hardest part. took 300 pics yesterday of cars in yard and didnt even get to the trucks and stuff. so wheeww, ya know haha. yea discount ideas are on the brainstorm board already. def going to have use the keyword thing so i know were my traffic is coming from good advice.. thanks.. give you a discount for advice lol |
