Default 97 Civic HX non-vtec motor swap to 95 civic EX Vtec?

Hi, I'm Just looking to see if anyone knows or if they can point me in the right direction...

I've got 3 civics..

99 DX 2dr-manual (In boxes, Project car)
97 HX 2dr-auto (totaled but runs and drives)
95 EX 2dr-Manual (Locked up Motor)

I'm no Gearhead but I know enough to work on my own vehicles.. I plan on swapping motors from the 97HX to the 95EX I'm just curious if I'd have to change wiring harnesses ect.. to make this work.. the 95 has a bad Vtec motor-previous owner ran it out of oil, the 97 has a strong running non-vtec motor..

I want to keep the Manual trans in the 95, SO I need to know if the vtec can bolt to the non-vtec and what else may be needed.. (I don't know how to tell what the motor is exactly.. I'm not a Real Honda Gurue..)

thanks for any info

I just did some checking... *what I could...
from what I found the 97HX is listed as having a Vtec motor 1.6l same as the 95 (as far as I can tell) However, the motor isn't tagged vtec under the hood.. how can you tell which engine is which?

thanks

OK, got out there with a wire brush and cleaned up some filth to discover the engine numbers. D16Y5 on the 97 and D16Z in the 95 (the one that is being repaired... Now I just need to know what itll take to do the swap or if I'm just better off rebuilding the D16z as it's the slightly better motor?.
