Question 1996 Prelude occasionally wont start

I have a 1996 Honda Prelude that will not start sometimes
If it sets for an hour or so after running it usually starts right up
If I turn it off it will start right back up immediately
If I turn it off and let it sit for 10 minutes it won`t start unless I let it sit for about an hour or so
It seems to have gotten worse with the hot weather
When it is running it runs great
It has a 2.3 liter engine with the automatic transmission
I have not replaced the starter or anything else
Any ideas what could cause this?
Thank you for your time

Well, All of what you said sound just like a bad fuel relay or a relay that has gotten old. as you'll hear many times in this forum, The relay has contact points that are souldered together and through years of use the contacts get hot an expand in use and contract when cool, when the contacts go bad the heat from hot weather or the heat form the car causes the contacts to expand so their may be cracks in the contacts that can keep the electricity from making it to the fuel injectors and the fuel pump. THe relay is farily cheap anthough doing the operation at home can ba a pin because of the relays location. (at least in civics). A dealership should be able to do it for less then $100.

Thanks for your input however what I failed to also say is that the car will not even turn over.Whenever the car does crank it always starts.

Well now thats diffrent, check the ignition, for the same reason the relay goes out the ignition may have gone out because of the metal contacts inside the ignition.
