If you are not in the Nazi State of California, where you would have to fight C.A.R.B. and/or if pulled over by the Man after a swap you would have to have it B.A.R.'d (Bureau of Automotive Repair) by a Referee,, I would go with the easiest and least expensive - JDM B16A.

It is OBD-2, so it will swap right into your car with no complications.

I would spend time with mapping and tuning, but other than that, you should have a long term easy running double-overhead cam'd Honda!

Extreme would be to go with a K-series sap out of any various models. But take my word for it, it is a project worthy of opening your wallet, your Momma's wallet and anywhere else you can find cash. You will dump coin into anything like that!

Add a turbo or supercharger and you are surely on your way to clinically insane. Like me! =))

Good luck.

Cookie monster guy is right...

just get a B series if you want a little more HP.. either b16 or b18, if b18, then go with the b18c1... although it might run u a little over 3 grand..

but if you want just a little more kick and not too much.. swap it to a D16z6 which has vtec, i had it in my crx, and that thing took off. Now i have a b18b1 with another crx, and it still has alot of torque, love that car.

So here it is.

BUDGET:

1 GRAND- D16z6

2 GRAND- b16 preferably the b16a1

3 GRAND- B18C1

4 Grand and up- turbo that little SOHC and save the singles...!!!

check out d-series.org, and search vitara
