You can "borrow" a tool called a "radiator pressure tester" from Autozone's loaner tool section. With the engine cold & the radiator full pressurize the system with the tool. This will test for leaks. If the system holds pressure you either have a bad fan or air in the system. Confirm fan opperation and check the repair manual for the bleeding proceedure. Was there a small hole toward the outer edge of the thermostat. If so that needed to be aligned; check repair manual for that as well.

Check the following;

1. coolant leak

2. low on coolant

3. bad radiator cap

4. water pump starts to malfunctions

5. bad thermostat

6. fan not working properly

7. internal leak ( blown head gasket)

Have these things check first. Hope this help!
