Default honda accord clock is out?

I have a 2003 Honda accord. The LED panel in the car with the clock display and radio etc. is out. The radio and all the functions on the panel still work, I just cannot see the display. What might the problem be and how costly would it be to fix? Is it worth it to fix it?

== go to the local auto supply and get the counter dude to look/see yo ride == it may only be a fuse that is loose or needs to be new... those counter guys are very helpful == give good advice== some will work on your car when not at the store === make a new friend ((you need a mechanic and they are respectful (you already have a BF)) the counter dude needs the extra work ...

There was a recall for that. Service Bulletin (04-027) states the problem and that Honda will replace the whole unit for free. Call up your local Honda dealer and tell them your problem, it's over $1,200 if you buy it yourself.

Default Re: honda accord clock is out?

There is a service bulletin on this. The warranty was extended to 7 years, 160,000 km. My 2003 accord had the dim display (radio & heater controls) but everything worked fine. I was over the 7 year extension on the warranty but under the mileage extension (remember warranty terms are whichever comes first). I called Honda Canada and explained. I was told to get it "officially" diagnosed at the dealership which I did (they did not charge for this). Quote was $50 for the part (dim kit - aka a circuit board) and 1.5 hrs labour ($140). Called Honda Canada with the details. They called the dealership to confirm and worked out a deal for me. They covered the part and the labour was magically reduced to 0.8 hours. So for $75 (I paid for 0.8 hrs labour), I got the whole repair done including parts. Seemed fair to me since the car is 8 years old. Could have done it for around $60 myself but definitely not worth the savings of only $15.
