96-2000 civic. Small, fast, saves gas, and cheap. average price for a fair used with around 120,000 miles on Craigslist is $2,500. $15 almost fills you up on gas. Fast, but you can make it faster. Best honda show car to my standards. Figuring out insurance is all you, But prepare to dig deep in your wallet; You're young, you gotta a sports car, and you're young=$$$$

1999-2000 Honda Civic Si would be the best imo for a new driver looking for a stylish car with some power.

Other alternatives I'd pick would be a 1992-1995 Civic Hatchback, 1992-1995 EX Sedan (EG generation had best sedans imo), 1996-2000 EX Civic Coupe, or 2002-2005 Hatchback Civic Si.

The Si will cost more to insure and the newer the car is the more costly it is. They are all used for "modifying" and usually end up in a teenagers hands and the insurance companies know this, none of them are really gonna cost more than the other to insure aside from the Si like I said.

Oh and since you said "any suggestions"...(going off what most first time teenage Honda owners do)

Body kits = Ugly

Spoilers = Stupid

17"+ Rims = Stupid and Unreasonable

Neon = Annoying

Altezza Taillights = Overplayed & Ricey

The $50 "high flow race" muffler from Pepboys = Worst possible thing to do to a Honda

There is no such thing as a "fast" Honda, unless you're a 16 year old racing minivans and thinking an obnoxious wheezing exhaust and tacky Pep Boys plastic crap everywhere equates to speed.

Honda makes appliances for people who don't like cars--they'll get you where you're going and last a long time, but they're designed to be commuters and grocery getters, not performance machines.

Honda does not make a single rear wheel drive car, and all of their engines (mostly I4s with a couple V6s) are mounted sideways way out in front of the front axle for awful weight distribution.
