Default Hi, my 2005 Honda Accord was totally drained of coolant the other day.?

I only noticed when my temperature gauge was all the way near the "H"ot. Surely enough my coolant level was very low. The repair guy checked for leaks but couldn't find anything. He refilled my coolant and for 3 days the car was fine until today.

The malfunction indicator lamp came on and my temperature gauge started to fluctuate. At times it was near H and then it would go back to normal. It would keep going back and forth which is something I have never witnessed while driving. Usually it constantly stays somewhere in the middle. My coolant level this time was normal.

Anyone know what may be the cause? I can't go to the repair shop until Saturday as I need the car to get to work and I am not able to take any days off.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

There is a thermostat in your car that is supposed to open and close at a certain temperature. Regardless of whether it is electronic or mechanical thermostat, if it malfunctions IE doesn't open soon enough then the vehicle would get hot, then it'd open, then it'd cool down to running temp, then close and heat up again. That makes the most sense for what you have described.

could be the thermostat, i dont know why your car would dump coolent just once, theres something wrong with that. it could be a blown head gasket, meaning a lot of headaches, the mechanic could have also just unplugged a sensor and forgot about it. just keep an eye on the temp gauge
