Its to show case Honda's abilities to work with technologies other than just cars. It acts as a virtual spokesman for the company. Its a mascot. Its a test bed for collision detection circuitry.

Most technology gets used to replace humans.Asimo in one hundred years will be a robot soldier.Humans are warlike and combined with future technology it will be possible to kill everybody.The Presto Kitchen Kettle is already dangerous when healthy vegetables are fried in tempura batter.
