Default How much oil do I put in my 97' Accord 2.2L 4CYL?

This would be my first oil change for my 97' accord. I'd obviously be changing out the filter also, I have been reading 4 to 4.5 quarts, I don't want to overfill. Is it 4 quarts?

I've changed the oil before! This would be my first time on this particular vehicle. I have performed all my oil changes!

Typically around 4 quarts.

With the car on level ground, start by adding 3.5 quarts then wait 1-2 minutes for the oil to work it's way down to the pan, pull out the dipstick and see where the oil level is, best is between the bottom "Add" mark and the top "Full" mark on the dipstick. If it looks like it's not quite there add in another .5 quarts, one you get the oil between Full and Add, start the car and run it for about 2-3 minutes, turn the car off check the dipstick and add if necessary.

It shouldn't take more than 4.5 quarts and if you hit 5 quarts you overfilled.

Since this is you first oil change...

When you take off the old filter, look at it's oil seal and make sure it is all there, and make sure there's no parts of the seal stuck onto the engine if you can see that area. (It should come off with the filter but sometimes it sticks).

Once your sure the old seal is completely off, rub the new filters seal with oil, it is very important to do this. If you don't lube the new filter seal it could melt and stick to the engine block causing a leak eventually, hand tighten the filter ONLY, you never want to over tighten the filter.

Oh and, you don't have to do this, but I like to fill the new filter up with some of the new oil before installing. It'll spill a little when you install it but some oil in there is better than none when you first go to start it.

Edit: Oh lol, well advice & suggestions never hurt.
