Default 2006 Accord engine shuts off after jump up

My 2006 Accord can not start. Tried jump it up, engine is on. Remove the jump cable and the engine is idle for a few minutes and then shut off. I have to rejump it up. I tried to drive it out to charge the battery, but the engine shut off while I took a full stop at the traffic light. What is wrong with my Accord? Any advice is appreciated.

I just got a few questions for you, Is the batery light on when you take off the jumper cables? And, how does the car die, does it sputter to a stop, does it just flat out die? But im betting either the battery is shot if its an old battery or the alternator is going out but the alternator should be fine becasue the car is still somewhat newer.
