Default This guy claims the engine makes 207 HP and redlines at 8500 rpm, true?

see the craigslist posting. here's a built engine on N/A. B18A1 from a 90 to 93 integra. i think the guy is full of bs. he said it makes 207hp and redlines at 8500 rpm. which means it's more powerful than JDM ITR B18C engine. how can this engine without vtec make that much power? no freaking way. sells for only 1500 bucks. well you get what you pay for.

First off Vtec is a way to make a hi strung engine run well at low RPM it is basically running 2 cam profiles one for low RPM and one for high. The engine in question is set up with cams for high RPM only this is pretty standard for race engines. With that set up yes it is possible if you are that worried about it then get it on a dyno, if the seller all ready has then ask them to show you the dyno sheet

all taht VTEC does is solve the problem of having to choose between low RPM based cams and high RPM based cams...means you can have the best of both worlds. other than that it means nothing,

crower stage 3s are much more aggresive than ITR cams.

adjustable cam gears can make the timing even more aggresive

itr pistons give that motor about 11.5:1 CR

i wouldnt doubt that with a CAI and a tune that engine makes 207 HP.

go to evans tuning (one of the most respected and reliable tuners in the honda world) here: http://forums.evans-tuning.com/viewforum.php?f=39 and search around the dyno graphs. im sure yo can find a set up that is pretty similiar to the one being sold and has close to the same HP.
