The V6 would blow the 4 cyl out of the water. There is no replacement for displacement.

are you sure you dont mean 1.7L for the ex? the 2001-2005 honda civic EXs came with a d17a2.

02 honda ex with d17a2:

127hp@6300

114tq@4800

7200 rev limit

vtec engages at 3200

gear ratios:

1: 3.143

2: 1.870

3: 1.241

4: 0.970

5: 0.757

FD: 4.412

weight: 2553

hp:weight ratio: .0497

which year accord? im going to guess between 98 and 02:

200hp@5500

195tq@4700

rev limit: 6300

cant find the gear ratios, however its a 4 speed meaning they are further apart then the civics

weight: 3014 give or take

hp: weight ratio: .0664

while the accord does have more HP, in a short race or even one dealing with corners it has the disadvantage of being an automatic, since you cannot use RPMs to handle corners and you cannot "launch" with an automatic. also its gear ratios are further apart meaning it cannot accelerate as fast.

i do have a list of the manufactorer 1/4 mile time claims:

2001 honda accord lx 16.6

00 (closest i could find) civic ex: 16.7

considering that the times are only .1 seconds off (i doubt the testers "launched"), and that the 00 civic had 3 less tq @ 700 RPMs over the 02 model (meaning its probably around 10 less at 4800): i'd actualy put my money on the civic assuming the driver actually knows how to drive stick.
