Default Whats wrong with my car. 98 honda accord power lock problem?

Ive only had my honda accord for 9ish months, and Ive already had to replace the batteries in the remote 3 times. Usually it takes me pressing it a few times for it to finally beep and lock. But already three times, it has completely stopped working and died and Ive had to replace them. Do I contact my local dealer? I dont know what to do...

On the Honda remotes there is a red LED light (usually at the top front of the remote when you point it towards the car). That light should blink when you press any of the buttons to tell you that the battery is okay.

if you press the lock or unlock buttons after the battery has been replaced and the light doesn't blink then there's a strong possibility that the remote contacts are worn internally and that you'll need to replace the remote. the pads that you press on have small electrical contacts on the underside that complete a circuit on the circuit board inside the remote. if the pads or the contacts are worn, it won't matter how good tha battery is as the circuit won't be completed when you press on the buttons.

if the remote only works after you press on the buttons a few times then it is almost certain the problem is worn contacts. batteries don't come back to life after pressing the buttons multiple times. you can buy a replacement remote from any Honda dealer or check on eBay for used ones.

hope that helps
