Default 97 honda prelude, when should i replace the clutch. non SH model.?

I've got 103k miles on it now and am taking it in for timing belt and water pump replacement, because i feel its time for that. i don't have enough for a clutch replacement right now, but seems to be working fine. Just wondering when most usually replace the clutch.

A lot of people replace the clutch on a prelude just because they want a racing clutch. You should replace yours if it starts making unusual noises or gets harder to push down.

As the clutch wears, the clutch pedal starts to need more and more travel to disengage/engage the clutch. It happens very gradually and the driver usually doesn't even notice it until the clutch starts to slip.

When you first take off with the car, pay attention to where the clutch pedal is when the car starts to move. If the clutch is grabbing(car starts to move) when the pedal is almost completely released (your about to take your foot off the pedal) then your clutch is at the end of its life. If the car starts to move when you are just starting to let the clutch pedal out, then you probably have plenty of life left on the clutch.

Most people wait until it's hard to shift or noticeably slipping before they do anything about it. On most Hondas that I've worked on, 100,000 miles is usually where you start to see some clutch wear issues. You're probably looking at needing it worked on in the next 10,000 to 15,000 miles
