Default My 1995 Honda Civic will not start. The lights work and its not the starter.?

I have no idea what it is? What do you think?

When I go to turn it on, all the lights come on. It just does not crank, turn over. Ya know what I mean?

when i turn the key nothing happens. The lights work though.

my hubby took it to autozone and they said the starter is good.

My hubby said its the wiring or something & I am trying to prove what is wrong before him. lol

we cannot jump start it

It is somewhere between the starter and the ignition. That is where my profile is.

Just because lights and radio come on doesn't mean it's not the battery... I've had to replace my starter twice, it either will sounds like it's getting harder to start right before it totally goes, or it won't turn at all... that's the starter.

If the battery is dead, it's either just old and used too much without the car running... or the alternator isn't charging it and may need replaced....

but like i said if it's not cranking at all i'll bet it's the starter... not sure what's around you, but if you can get it to an autozone they can test for free... if you can start it with a jump start it's the battery that's dead, and you need to check the alternator too.

I think it could be dirty battery cables, you need to take the negative cable off first use a terminal cleaner and baking soda and water or a short wire brush, carefully clean the INSIDE OF THE CABLES, BRUSHING AWAY FROM YOUR BODY battery acid is caustic and will eat cloths, and your skin and you never want to get any in an eye, if you get any on you it starts to feel very hot and you must wash well to get it off. if the inside of the cable is dark or black, and so is the connection on the battery, clean it until its as shiny as you can get it. negative (black wire) first leave it off the battery then do the red (positive terminal) it is usually not as bad as the black terminal. if you have no baking soda, you can use any kind of soda pop with carbonation, such as mt dew or coke or 7 up. but the wire brush is important dip it in the soda pop and scrub terminals and battery posts clean, then put the red on first, followed by the negative, DO NOT TOUCH ANY METAL WHEN LOOSENING OR TIGHTENING BATTERY CABLES. BATTERY IS SENSITIVE IN SOME RESPECTS, NO DIRECT SHORTS, AND NO SMOKING battery gives off some explosive fumes, if this does not help you need more information, and test the battery as well

If your car wont turn over or crank, it could be a very weak battery or your starter is bad. Have this check by a good mechanic. Also check the connection of your battery terminals and the connection of your starter to the battery. Hope this help!

I have had the same issue. i tried everything. i unplugged the alarm, my system my led lights in the inside and nothing worked. the issue will most likely be the timing belt and water pump. the cost for the parts are dirt cheap but the labor is about 400, well that's what i ended up paying but i can defiantly say its the timing belt
