Default what is the best & economical volume a 4-cylinder honda should have?

What is the ideal volume for a 4 cylinder Honda so the car doesnt run out of gas quickly?

the most economical Honda is the insight or civic hybrid but for non-hybrids it would be the 1.5l 4-cylinder in the Fit(Jazz is some parts of the world).
