Nooo thats not good for a first car way too many miles. A car should have 12,000 miles each year. If its from 2003 its 7 or 8 years old and should only have like 80,000 miles or something

As long as the timing chain hasn`t stretched yet you are good to go.

As long as it has been properly maintained. Ask for service records. Check how often the oil was changed, should be every 3000, every 5000 is an acceptable limit, if much beyond that I wouldn't buy it. Also check for when the timing belt and water pump was changed. It should have been changed at around 90,000 miles and if it was it will be due at 180,000 though i would do it sooner than that, maybe at 170,000.

How's the maintenance history? If the car has been properly maintain u should not have a problem. I installed new brakes today on a 2004 Element with 200,000 miles.I drive a 88 civic with 315,000. There is no timing belt on this model so.. don't worry about that. If they can show u that they did a good maintenance on it, go for it. Element's are good...Hope this helps, Good luck!
