Default Is it a lot of money to redo the dashboard on a car?

I'm getting a 2001 Honda Civic and the inside looks disgusting, it looks as if it's out of a '93 even though the outside is stylish. I was wondering if there are anyways to redo the dashboard? Or if there is anything else I can do? Thanks!

the best advise I can offer is to take the car to a local auto upholstery shop and ask them for their recommendations. Most do interior renovations including recovering dash panels, carpets, seats and door panels. ask them for an estimate before you buy the car and use that as a bargaining chip in the negotiations if you haven't committed to buy it yet. you can usually say "the interior is going to cost me $XXX to replace so I give you $XXX less than what you're asking". You can negotiate a discount from there.

Most interested sellers won't have any objections to taking the car to the auto upholsterer for the estimate, nor should they have any objection to having a legitmate mechanic check the car out which is another thing I strongly recommend you have done before committing to buying the car. It might cost you $50 to have the car inspected but it can save you thousands if they find something wrong.

if you search for "auto upholstery" or "auto interiors" you should be able to find a shop near you. If you have problems, call a honda dealer and ask for a recommendation as all dealers use outside upholstery shops to recondition there used cars.

hope that helps
