Default Installing a cold air intake in my 2000 civic

whats up guys

i just ordered an aem v2 cold air intake for my 2000 civic ex and i am trying to remove the air filter and i unscrewed the screw on the right of the filter but the second screw in the front (between radiator fluid box? and air filter) is completely stipped and there is noooo way to unscrew it. i used wd40 and bought vice grips and even when i clamp on to it i still cant turn it cause the bolts in the worst spot ever.

the guy who i bought the car from musta stripped it when he upgraded the air filter.

i cant proceed to remove the old air intake without taking out the current filter

so i was thinking... should i just break it out since im not gonna need that air filter anyway or what?

thanks in advance

Try tapping out the screw. There are a ton of articles describing how to do it, and it's really easy to do.

If you choose to break it and decide later to reinstall for whatever reason, you might regret it.

It's your car, so ultimately, it's your choice.

Irwin brand tools makes a BOLT EXTRACTOR KIT which helped me immensely to remove three stripped bolts on my EGR valve. Any auto parts store or maybe even Walmart will have these sets. They run about $25. This will also be useful in the future and throughout your relationship with your honda.

Best of luck,
