Default Where is the speed sensor located on a 95 honda accord?

Im trying to find the speed sensor on my accord. It says its under the thermostat housing. Is it under the car? I cant see it on top. I know they say its on the transmission. Also, does it affect the car performance if the sensor is bad? I know it causes the speed odometer not work but what other affects does it have on the car?

the speed sensor is on the top of the transmission. the "under the thermostat housing" refers to where you should be looking down from. the sensor is bolted to the transmission housing with two bolts, one on each size of a connector. the connector usually is black and has two wires going into it.

the speed sensor is the input for the transmission control module on an automatic transmission vehicle so it may not upshift or downshift at the normal shift points. it is also an input to the vehicle fuel injection system so it can cause driveability problems and cause the check engine light to come on.

Hope that helps

It's kind of hard to see but it's there. Look kind of like in between the thermostat housing and the throttle body, look straight down. It's on the trans , It a gray color 3 wire connector with two 10mm bolts , one on each side. If the sensor is bad u should have a check engine light on, the odometer will not work and the shifting pattern will be erratic, hard shifting or late shifting. If the light it's on the computer goes to the open loop condition in which the computer is not that effective because there is a failure in the system, so... the fuel economy goes down , problems with idle in the future and other stuff like the catalyst...$$$$$$ A little money now will save u a lot in the future... I hope this helps , Good luck!

the speed sensor is located under the intake, if you remove the intake pipes, then you should see it under the thermostat housing.

the check engine light would come on, but it wouldn't affect the performance at all, mine went out before and i drove it just fine, i replaced it 2 months after and it works the same. I ordered one on ebay, and it was cheap lol.
