Default 1998 Honda Accord wont leave park. HELP?

Got a 98 Honda Accord. Automatic. I went out to go to work and as usual its in PARK. I start the car just fine but when i go to get in reverse i get nothing. The shifter just wont budge. I hold down the break, press the button and NOTHING!!!! When i hit the brake the brake lights no longer go on. Im stuck and i dont have money to fix it really. Anything i can do that is cheap? or free to fix the problem?

Some cars have a release button located clearly near the shift plate (the place you shift it from park to drive). In my previous Japanese imports, this was a small plastic section blended into the plastic surrounding the shift area which was labeled "unlock", or something similar.

If I am correct, you'll simply need a flat head screwdriver to pry off the protector piece to push the button to release it from park.

you have a bad brake light switch. Thats why your brake lights dont work and it wont come out of park.

The switch only costs around 40 bucks, maybe less.
