totally depends on what engine you mean. The D-series SOHC VTEC's can be picked up for as little as 300, the only D-series DOHC VTEC (D16Z6) may cost a bit more. The b16a2 can cost from around 600-900, H-series like the H22 can cost around 800, and the JDM B18C can cost more than 2300, it depends on mileage, engine, seller and if its just the block for sale.

There are too many honda VTEC engines to list but hopefully that can give you an idea

VTEC engines, is alot types of engines, you need to be more specific.

There are Single Cam VTEC engines (D-series) like the D16Z6, then there are also Dual Cam Engines such as the H22A4 or B18C1 (list goes on).

Even newer i-VTEC engines which comes in the RSX's and Newer Civic Si's.

so its hard to say exactly not knowing which engine.

but i would guess from $1200-$8,000. (1200 being the Single cam motor, and 8000 being the K-series i-VTEC) prices are a guess so it may be more or less.
