It 'knows' when the belt is attached to the socket.

It doesn't 'know' whether you are under the belt, or sitting on it.

You can't just disable the belt chime, it's inside the gauge cluster, turned on based on what the airbag computer tells it about the seatbelt switch. If you bypass the seatbelt switch, you'll have an airbag light/ no airbags, key in chime, lights on chime, or parking brake reminder. Everything is multiplexed and networked these days, so there's no simple solution to turn it off, except wear your seatbelt.

Thumbs up Re: How do I Deactivate the Belt Minder Feature in my 2008 Honda Civic SI Coupe?

Buckle Up permanent, the seat belt Buckles;
{{{ Hook it Up }}}.

Then use blankets & cushions & set ON them.

This overrides the seat belt system.....
Without making anything that;
Renders the system damaged permanently.

I hope it helps, good luck.

Best regards;
