Very good information - it appears the engine computer is searching for the right mixture but can't find it. Unplugging the O2 sensor stops the confusion.

I have a hunch the O2 sensor is the original, and they get pretty ragged after 100K miles. The sensor will be seriously overdue for replacement if it is original - pre-1996 Hondas never seem to complain no matter how bad the O2 sensor is - and I think that will fix the hunting. If not, look for a leak at the intake manifold gasket on one end of the manifold. Unbalanced mixture will also cause hunting.

It might be your Idle Air Control Valve. I had a similar problem to this and couldn't figure it out so finally took my Honda to a dealer who did a diagnostic on it, and it turned out to be a faulty idle air control valve. Honda wanted $500 to replace it, but I found a local mechanic who bought the part for $175 and charged me $100 labor.

Idle air valve, there are 2 small coolant hoses, see if there is coolant flow through,if not try to unclog them,it uses hot coolant to open and close valve inside of it.Bad oxygen sensor does not affect idle speed.
