Default What is the most powerful engine swap for a Honda Del Sol under $4000? I look for acceleration?

I hear the H22A is good for a straight line but horrible for the street, at 220 HP and 170 TRQ it looks pretty nice, but costly. I have heard a lot about the B18C1 which I see has around 180 HP and 130TRQ. I see this engine for $4600 here - http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30011 - but I was looking for a little cheaper!

220 will do you good with the lack of weight in the car. You should be able to find an h22 long block (get the transmission as well) for around 1000-1200 bucks + shipping + installation. That should be below your limit. Still, putting it into a del sol that's not worth a whole lot isn't a great idea unless you plan to keep it for another 5-10 years and it's in good mechanical condition.

That price on the b series is way too high.

your problem is your looking for acceleration in the wrong company. hondas are laughed at because of their torque or better yet what torque? mitsubishi and nissian are the only imports i know of that produce rides with good power.

with 4000 you need to find a mitsubishi eclipse gt dsm or v6 model to get your acceleration your looking for. the b18c1 motor puts out what my stang puts out but reversed, so 4600 is not worth it.

that guy ^^ is an idiot hahaha.

first, h22's can be found cheaper than b18c1's.

if your lookin to swap it and leave it alone, besides maintenance, the h22 is fine.

i do agree that a dsm is a better choice however there is no gt dsm, dsm's stopped in 99. a gsx or tsi is what you'd want. with 4k you could put a gsx into the 11's easily. i've done it with less.
