Default This is insane! Can I fit a V-12 in the engine bay of a Honda Del Sol?

Now before you go saying OMG your insane, I really am not! I wasn't thinking Bugatti V-12 I was thinking more along the lines of a Triton V-12 or a JAGUAR XJ-S 5.3 HE V-12. The V-12 in the jag is actually pretty small!

It most likely is possible, but its going to take a lot of custom fabrication.

Anything is possible if you have money.

Not without cutting the firewall and doing a whole ton of other modifications.

Also, the Del Sol is a FWD car, so even beyong getting the motor to fit, you would have to do a ton of other work to make it actually work in your car, unless you mounted the motor in the back and switched to a RWD platform.

So possible, yes. But it would take so much time, effort and money, it would not be worth it.

Even if you did it, it would still be slower than a regular properly modified Del Sol. THe added weight in that small of a car would be crazy, and itwould also throw off the weight ratio.

It would definitely be more cost effective, time effective and you would actually see more performance gains from a different engine swap, such as the B18 motor from an Integra GSR. Add a turbo kit to that and you will see way more gains, and still be able to drive it around corners lol.

If you are interested, check out the people who put Chevy Corvette engines in Mazda Miatas. That is a V-8 going into a very small car. It works, but basically only for drag racing. But the thing with that, is the Miata is already RWD.

Not possible at all unless you own the Yankees. The engine would be too heavy for the frame. Changing the frame would not make it a del sol. As stated before it's a fwd car. Save your money and buy the 2010 Honda cr-z.

Physically impossible, just not enough room, engine alone, what about transmission, and the stress of torque of the V12 on the Honda chassis.

The Del Sol chassis is a poor platform for that much power, even if it could be figured out. My motorhead brother squeezed a 454 into a Chevy Vega by cutting out much of the firewall and other changes. It was nowhere near as fast as you would think because it had serious traction problems. The suspension was good for a little over 100 hp and the 454 just tossed the rear axle around uselessly. Stock Mustangs left it in the dust. Of course the weight distribution was horrible.
