well it could be a few problems. easiest way to work on this is a DVOM (digital volt/ohm meter) and you can pick a cheap one up at sears for about 15bux. if you dont have the fuse cover you might as well just check all the fuses. most have testing points on the back of them where you just use the ohm setting on your DVOM with the car off and look for low resistance. (its all in the users guide for the meters) however if it is not a fuse then you need to check a number of other problems. i would start with the wiper fluid pump and jump 12v to it from the battery directly and see if it pumps. if it doesnt the pump needs replaced assuming of course that the ground wire was properly fastened to the car. if it does pump thats not your problem. then i would start checking any connections in the wiring circuit and clean them out. then i would make sure the part of the switch is working for the washer pump with the DVOM. and if none of that is it then you have some really messed up wiring and its gonna be a bastard to fix cuz then you have to find where the wiring is bad.
good luck |

The fuses protect the wires, so there may two different fuses for the pump and the wipers. Pumps burn out. And I have had blockage problems on our 1993 Civic windsheild washer lines, and jets on our 1999 Accord.
The best answer is getting the right chilton's manual for your car. It will give a picture and description of the fuse box and what the fuses go to. |
