Uh.......yea. Even though they're really good cars, Hondas do have "normal" problems like all car makes.

In general no. But, certain models during certain years had more problems than others. A great resource to check is consumer reports. For example, I was thinking about getting an 02ish Acura TL because I liked the way they looked. Upon checking consumer reports, their transmissions were rated very poorly for reliability. I avoided this car. All other hondas that I checked had great transmission reliability ratings..































Keep in mind also that a transmission will mess up if the person driving the car drives it very hard and carelessly. Also, there are duds out there for any make. Just because someone has an issue with a transmission in a honda doesnt mean all hondas have transmission problems.

All the V6 Hondas from 1998-2002 had HUGE transmission problems. This includes the Accord, Acura TL/CL and the Odyssey.































Honda extended the factory warranty on these cars and ended up replacing a BUNCH of transmissions.































You can have the VIN checked at a dealer to see if the transmission in a particular car was replaced under warranty.

Yes, this is true that many times Honda's have transmission problem.
Transmission failure with the Honda Accord is a widespread problem in models made from the early 2000s. The 2003 Honda Accord appears to be the worst year for transmission failure.

Many of the transmission failure complaints are caused by the torque converter failing - the engine will rev up but the car won't shift into gear or move. In some reports, the torque converter burned up the transmission fluid which ruined the transmission.
