Honda accord dies after starting
I have a 94 honda accord lx 5 speed and the past month Ive been having problems with it starting consistently. Seems like every other day when I try to start it in the afternoon it fires up and the rpms go just over 1,000 and it immediately dies. I can give it gas while starting and the rpms will go higher usually reaching about 2,000 but still dies immediately. And if I try to crank it over again without turning the ignition to off it wont even fire up. I have to actually turn the ignition to off, restart and it dies again. After this happens I've left the car for as little as 3 hours sometimes the next day and gone back and it starts up and runs fine. I've never had it die while running or even run badly. I took it to a local shop and they told me it was my distributor so they changed it (not the cap or rotor just distributor) and it worked great for about a week started every time. Then a week later it started doing the same thing again. Someone told me it could possibly be the main relay. I just wanted to post something to see if anyone has ever had a similar experience and could give me any advice before I go off spending more money. If the repair is minor I'm capable of doing it myself. Thanks and I hope to hear back from someone.
