I just bought a 98 prelude and its way to low. Previous owner heated the springs and dropped it. I want to raise it up to stock height or almost stock. Do coilovers go that high? or should i just get helper springs/ boosters?

O,o the prev owner heated the springs to lower the car?? if that is the case then you need new springs (coilovers, springs) asap. coils that have been heated up like that are NOT safe to drive around in. if you are trying to go back to stock ride height then go get soem stock springs. if you still want to be lowered just not as low as you are now then go get coilovers or aftermarket springs.

You have no choice but to buy new springs. Coilovers won't return the car to stock height, they still drop the car even at their highest. Coilovers are great though for being able to adjust the height anytime.
If the previous owner did cut it cheap as you say and modified his stock springs I'd replace them soon, that's just stupid for someone to do that. IMO you have 2 choices: A) Take the car to the dealer and pay for new stock springs and labor fees, probably around $400. or B) Buy some nice coilovers ($400-$1400) or springs ($200-$500) and have them installed, or do-it-yourself and the car will handle a lot better than the stock springs or the crappy modified springs that are on there. |
