i have taken off the tire but the drum wont slide out. got any instructions?

Your brake has likely siezed up. The parking brake cable may be stuck, holding the brake shoes against the drum. You won't get the drum off unless you can get them to come free.































Try pounding around the drum circumference with a rubber mallet. (NOT a metal hammer!) You'll have to hit it fairly hard. Work your way all the way around, occasionally trying the drum to see if it is getting looser. If not, try hitting the drum on the face (where the wheel bolts on) with a metal hammer, again, around in a circle. (Safety glasses, please!) Don't strike around the outer rim as you can break the drum. Be patient, keep hitting it around and around.































If this does not work, there is usually access from the back side to back off the adjustment mechanism. Shops sometime have to drill out the pivot pins for the shoes to get the drum to come free.































If that brake has been dragging for a while, that entire wheel end could be toast, a dragging brake can heat up the brakes and the drum, and the bearings, and the spindle...RED hot, permanently damaging them.
