Okay so i just got a 07 civic si and im having problems shifting an dim scared of burning my clutch some one told me to do this Let go of the gas, press the clutch, shift, let go of the clutch all the way, then gas. You are now in 4th. do i do that with 1st through 3rd gear also? when i let go of the clutch say going from 2nd to 3rd my car jerks but when i give it gas like not to much but enought to even it out it dosen jerk but if im going from 3rd gear to 4th i dont have to give it any gas while letting go of the clutch it shifts smoothly. its just 1st through 3rd if i dont give it gas while slowly letting go of the clutch it jerks. am i doing it right am i doing something wrong? and it usually takes me like 2 or 3 seconds to shift. someone help please thank you. what rpms should i shift 1st through 3rd and 4rth through 6th?

there's nothing wrong with the car, you probably just aren't that smooth at shifting. i think you are shifting too slow and the RPM's are dropping too far down, so when you let the clutch back out, the engine has to rev up to match the speed you are going. i recommend learning how to shift a little faster, and dont worry about burning the clutch. there is no set rpm you should shift at for any gear, it just depends on the road, your mood, etc. personaly i think, if its a civic SI, then the redline should be a good indicator of when to grab the next gear
