i have a 1999 honda accord. i bought a 10000K HID kit becuase i wanted really blue headlights. turns out they're white!! im wondering if it is just the brand or if 10000k not blue enough. so now i wannt a buy a 12000k bulb or 30000k bulb, not the kit, for bluer lights. can i just buy the HID replacement bulbs to use with my 10000k kit or do i have to buy a whole new kit??? and whats a good brand to buy, please provide links

if you bought a kit, then i'm assuming your factory bulb harness plugs into the ballast, which in turn has 2 wires which plug into the bulb. if so, then all you have to do is just get some new bulbs. depending on the wattage of the kit [35w vs 55w] will alter the color of the beam as well. as a caution, i don't suggest getting anything higher than 10000k. i had some 30000k on my car, got pulled over for "illegal" headlights, and the ticket cost over $200. i couldn't even get it signed off. now i have some 8000k. also, the best temp to get the most visibility out of your headlights is 4300k - 6000k. you do lose some visibility going into the bluer tint of bulbs. [i also had some 12000k around, and after comparing the 3 temps, 8000 vs 12000 vs 30000, visibility was best with the 8000].

you can just buy the bulbs. no two kit from different brand will have the same color base on the same temp rating.
