the manual says 2.9qt under change and 6.2qt under total... so im guessing that means im replacing 2.9qt... well i figured put in 3 unless thats a bad thing... its an auto tranny... am i lucky enough to have a drain plug on it or do i have to take the pan off? ohh and do i need a new filter? i was going to change it but i was told i dont need to... 113,000+ and i have yet to have this done
and what kind of filter should i get?? |

civics dont come with pans
its just a bolt where u take off and the fluid comes out after that put bolt in fill up fluid about 3qt and then measure your dipstick check both sides and the one with the lowest fluid is the correct one if not enough fill in and keep reading after that you're good to go |

You are actually only replacing about 1/3 of the old fluid. Each time you change the fluid in the Auto tranny you're only getting rid of 1/3 of the old oil. So the first time you change it 1/3 is gone, change it again and 1/3 of the first 1/3 is now gone. Change it one more time and most of the old fluid should be out."am i lucky enough to have a drain plug on it or do i have to take the pan off?"
There is no pan, there is a drain bolt at the bottom of the tranny you just have to take off and let the fluid run through."ohh and do i need a new filter?" I don't think your transmission has a filter in it, and if it does don't worry about it. The only way your gonna be able to change the filter is if you pull the transmission out of the car and pop it open. These transmissions would have internal filters, not external like a motor oil filter. Just make sure the transmission fluid is changed at least once each year. |
