Default What Engines Could Fit My Honda?

I have a 1998 Honda Civc Lx and would like to put a better engine in her. I looking for a V-Tec or something along that line; any B series Engine. I there an website or something like that i could go to see all the engines that would fit? If any one could just post some good engines that will fit that would be cool too. Thank you for your time helping me.

Go to honda-tech.com . That is basically a one stop place for all swap info and technical info. You can fit any b series in your honda but you mainly want to make sure its the right obd or convert to its obd. Other than that you will just need mounts to make it fit. A motor swap for a honda consists of: motor, trans, shift linkage, mounts , and ecu for the most part. Tigerjapanese.com, passwordjdm.com, and many others offer swaps. Just yahoo "jdm motor swaps honda" or something and youll find a bunch of places

there are a world of engines that would go in, some requiring more work than others. for example if your civic is non-vtec, the gearbox and wiring loom will need to change and the '98 spec have chipped keys (you should have a spare red key) and you will need a EK9 civic type-r or similar ecu otherwise you wont be able to use your original keys with the new engine's standard ECU. Honda-tech is a great forum, check it out, but i question it to an extent, dont trust it completely. (in the administator engine swap advice thread, it suggests the B18C and b18C1 are the same engine with the same power....wrong, unless i read it wrong)

heres a list of the most popular engine swaps and their power outputs,

h22a, 2.2L DOHC VTEC, from 1997 honda prelude Sir, 197bhp, great engine, but not as strong/tuneable as B-series, and more work to fit.

d16z6, the only DOHC D-series engine, VTEC, common, cost effective swap, 125bhp

B16A2, 1.6L DOHC VTEC ,the most common swap, fairly easy swap, found standard in the '98 civic VTI (Si), 160BHP (167 BHP JDM engine)

B16B, from the 1998 civic EK9 type-r, 185bhp, worlds most powerful N/A engine in terms power:capacity ratio, fairly easy swap, but may be hard to find and expensive.

B18C1, from the acura integra gsr, 1.8L DOHC VTEC, 170bhp

B18C4, from the 2000 honda civic EM6 VTI/VTI-S (Si) - 170bhp - great value engine, found a mint 37,000 mile engine, with everything but gearbox for £800....

B18C, expensive but worth it, from the 1998 honda integra type-r, 195bhp, 9000rpm rev limit! JDM only, so may be hard to find.

K20A, from the 2004 civic EP3 type-r, 200bhp, lot of work, and will cost a bit but will be mad in terms of performance.

there are so many more aswell, check out this wiki link, a list of all the engines
