ill make this VERY SIMPLE for you.
a ACTUAL civic Si (US) will have a VIN # similar to this 2HG[EM1] a civic ex disguised to look like a Si will still have the ex vin number (commonly called chassis code) So A Civic EX VIN would be like 2HG[EJ8] or a dx would be 2HG[EJ6] simply if the 4th 5th and 6th number of the VIN is EJ6 its a Civic DX CX SE LX or VP. EJ8 is a Civic EX and EM1 is a Civic Si. Si also comes with rear disc brakes, the ex could be swapped to have these hence i say check the vin. |

Easiest way imo is to just hop in the car, turn the key on and look for the ABS light.
1999-2000 Civic Si do not have ABS and 1996-2000 Civic EX does have ABS. So, ABS = EX. Or you could pop the hood and look at the big DOHC lettering that the Honda Civic SI would have on it's engine. Engine codes are D16Y8 for the EX and B16A2 is the SI engine. But the 100% gurantee'd way to know what the car really is is to look at the VIN's like Jeff said and check the code on the engine. |
