if I'll install cold air intake on my 2006 honda civic si how would it change fuel efficiency ?)))) and what is the average of additional power which I could get after installation?)))















I know how cold air intake works ))) I'm just want to know your opinion about how CAI affects on fuel efficiency in your specific situation b/c it may be different from others.

Your car HAS a cold air intake.































Go pop the hood.































If you can't tell why it's cold air intake, you need to stop, and learn about what you're doing.































A cold air intake leads away from the warm air near the engine, towards colder air near the front bumper.































That's what your stock intake does.































All an aftermarket one does, is change the piping with something shiny, and claims it helps.































In older cars, there's a chance that the stock intake is overly restrictive. But in modern cars, they're designed to be very efficient anyway. So, there's really no room to improve on them, that can be noticed.































On average, during normal driving, you will see ZERO additional power.































As far as fuel efficiency, you will likely attempt to drive it it harder, because you will have the placebo effect of thinking it's faster....so you'll lose a few miles per gallon.































Until you realize that the car isn't faster, and you stop. And then you'll be back to normal mpg.































It's an utter waste of money.

Don't listen to the idiots who tell you it won't do a damn thing, Cold Air intakes make the air cold by blocking engine heat from reaching the intake. They also make it easier for air to enter the motor. 1) By takeing off the stock air intake box, which is a plastic box with a filter in the middle.( Look at that box and tell me its not restrictive!) 2) By making the tubeing leading to the motor straighter and less restrictive. The combination of colder air and more air entering the motor make it more efficient. You can expect an increase of 5-20hp, and up to 5mpg. Plus the filters that come with the intake kits are cotton air filters, which are washable, unlike a paper air filter, which extends filter life.

I will tell you the differnce between Ram air, Short Ram, Cold air, and stock. Iv done them all. Ram air almost forces cold air into the intake manifolds at higher speeds give a little more TOURQE. Which would give you better gas milage because its not using horsepower which it more compressed air into the engine which horsepower trys to burn all fuel possible at higher compressions. Short ram just eliminates the stock box, giving it a more freely breathing engine which gains horsepower by far more than any other intakes there are. Gives you alright gas milage but not as good as any of the others. Cold air does the same thing only it brings in colder air that has more of a oygen level in it and cleaner air. adds more TOURQE than horsepower but does make the car faster. Stock is like breathing threw a straw and vipassasnas girl farting with her finger in her ass. its all about keeping her quiet. But i would go with the ram air. Personally. not a fake one either. but cold air is next best.
