Looks. They serve no other purpose on a FWD car.

It's just for style and looks mainly, a lot of newer cars sporty or family type come stock with small spoilers like that. If they don't come with a small spoiler it's usually an Option dealers offer.

Performance spoiler (Bigger spoilers) are useless on all daily driver cars FWD, RWD, or AWD. They're only really needed on cars that are gonna be going over 100mph a lot and those ones give the driver an ability to tune towards more or less drag. The smaller ones (like the Civics, and many other daily cars) are there only to reduce drag by altering air flow around the car and increase MPG.

Spoilers are not any less effective on a FWD car than they are on a RWD. The purpose of a spoiler is to alter airflow to reduce or increase drag and nothing else. Which is one reason performance cars (on a professional level) use Body Kits, which are just as useless on a daily as much as a big spoiler. Which wheels are creating the power isn't gonna determine the airflow around the car......only the body style. And airflow plays a big factor in automotives believe it or not.
