I just had transmission replaced. Last year I had new radiator, new timing belt, water pump. All my fluids are in good shape although I smell a faint burnt smell from engine.
When my engine idles, the needle on the temp reading goes slightly above half. One of my engine fans may be out - having it checked this evening. Any ideas of what may be cause? I have had my 1998 Honda in for service 5 times this year. |

well definitely check your fluid level...anyway what it sounds like it might be a bad thermostat...they go bad in Honda's very often...very cheap to replace about 7 bucks... what it does is help your engine warm up quick and when it does,,it opens and releases the rest of the coolant thru out the engine...when they go bad they get stuck closed... and don't release the coolant through out the engine.... i had a lady come in with the same problem i only charged her 20 bucks. and it fixed her problem...the job isn't that hard so don't get ripped off... but definitely go somewhere where they have experience
