yes you can, but if you don't have comprehensive ie fire theft or collision your not covered, if your car burns you pay, if it is stolen you pay for another car, if you crash it you pay, so if you owe money on it, I'd have full coverage.

to add to his answer the lean holder may also require at most $500 deductable on collision. If you pay cash for it and own it outright, then you can choose not to have collision coverage.

You can get liability insurance on any road worthy car. the only question is how much does it cost, and how good is the coverage.

I suggest you try several insurance forms by looking up liability on the web. Check eachs coverage and monthly/yearly/semiannual premiums. They can vary greatly. And they have for me in my search. Then check out am best, they rate the agencies on their financial stability, what good is a policy with a out of business or soon to be. Also check out the better business bureau reports on customer satisfaction.

if you still make payments on it, then no.

if it's paid off already, then yes.

any car can get liability as long as there isn't a loan on it.

Yes, you can get it on any car you own. It is a law to have at least liability insurance in Alabama.
