93 Civic diagnostic code help
Hello all, Just joined and would like to say hello before i start picking your brains.
I have a 93 civic that is running like crap. It is blowing white smoke out the exhaust on exceleration ( a plume of smoke). I pulled the new plugs that I just put in and they are black with carbon. I'm assuming it is running very rich. The first thing that comes to mind is the o2 sensor but I want to be certain before I buy a new one.The check engine light is on steady. Is there anyway to pull the codes without a scanner. I read that there should be an LED on the ECU that will flash the code fault, But the ECU does not have an led anywhere on it. The only thing I see in the area where the ECU is 2 plugs that are in a green rubber cover. I got the car with about 200,000 miles on it so I'm not sure what parts were changed before I got the car. What I did was I changed two burnt valves so all the top end gaskets were changed. Any ideas pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Oh and when the car sits at idle in the driveway there is a black mark from the exhaust on the ground.
