Default is it hard to tighten a cam chain on a Honda CX 500?

Im looking into buying a motorcycle im getting a good deal the only thing wrong with it is the cam chain is loose causing it to skip and stall.

Is this something i can fix myself or do you know how much something like that would cost to get fixed professionaly?

Hes asking 400 hundred for it .. Is it worth my time?

Its a 1979

1979 CX 500 has no cam chain, the valves are actuated by push rods. Its an interesting design, Honda engineers, twisted the cylinders a little to allow the carburetors to be close together and the exhaust farther apart. The push rods are also slightly twisted with respect to the cylinders. Because this was a relatively low revving, water cooled engine, with a shaft drive the lifespan of the CX 500 is very high compared to other comparable motorcycles. I would suspect skipping and stalling to be an electrical issue.

pbleek is right. btw who told you it was the cam chain? offer him three if it isn't running right. I don't think it's nothing that can't be fixed.
