Default i have a D15B7 and from idle untill 3800rpm there is no ass but from 3800 untill redline

its all power? could this be a single over head vtec with just a different valve cover that the previous owner could have changed

in pretty much all honda motors the power band is in the higher rpms. so like you said from like 4k till redline it gets up and goes. but until 4k its not very quick.

no on the valve cover swap. even if it was vtec it doesnt engage at 3800.































sounds like your timing is off...

It's normal, the Honda D series engines weren't built for low-end torque at all. They make their power in the high end, most of them have to be kept above 3k to produce a good amount of power. And no, the D15B7 is not a VTEC engine but it is normal for the D15B7 to create it's power at 3800.
