i have a 99 honda civic. problem started today when driving along and the transmission just quit pulling. stopped and went through all the gears thinking maybe i could get it to do something. gave up shut the engine off and one last try decided to start it up and try it again. transmission acted like nothing had happened until it got up to speed and quit pulling all over again. i kept doing that probably 3 or 4 more times until i was able to make it back to the house. question is what the heck is going on? is it a solenoid or is it the screen stopped up or the pump going out or is my tranny just fried?

should i go ahead and do the easiest thing and just change the screen and fluid. i cant help but think it is something simple like this because when tranny engages it pulls and shifts like there is nothing wrong until it just quits pulling at all again. thanks again for any input
