Default Would you buy the extended warranty on a new Honda?

I'm buying a 2010 Honda Element today. The dealership I'm buying it from gives you a free lifetime powertrain warranty. There's also a 60,000 mile warranty. Of course they're trying to sell me a 120,000 mile warranty as well. They say Hondas are very reliable. So do I really need to get this warranty? What would you do?

If you plan on keeping the vehicle for a long time then yes and it will be cheaper to buy it now then later on and the price of the warranty will be more once you leave the dealers lot. Also if you do buy it tell the sales man that want a better price on the warranty and he may be able to drop it a little.

Only if the price is right.

Otherwise no, but I have owned many Honda models.

Started with a civic & now a S2000. Honda's are keepers.

If you buy new, Make sure you check all fluids are full before you drive off the lot. Sometimes they forget in a rush.

The last extended warranty I wasted my money on was a 1986 Mazda, and I bought it because my 1983 FORD Escort that I bought brand new cracked a head after 30K miles. I didn't want to take any chances so I bought a warranty I never used. The Mazda did over 130K miles without a problem. I have since bought 6 Hondas and most of them went well over 100K without a problem. If I were to ever buy an American car, then and only then would I buy an extended warranty, but a Honda? No way. They are built way too good!
