Post D16Y8 HEAD, WIRING, ECU WITH D15B7 BLOCK

I HAVE 1997 CIVIC AND GOT A D15B7 BLOCK TO REPLACE MY DAMAGED D16Y8 BLOCK. i PLANNED ON USING MY D16Y8 HEAD AND WAS WONDERING IF I COULD STILL USE MY SAME ECU, WIRING HARNESS. I NOTICED THE MY D16Y8BLOCK HAS A SENSOR AT THE CRANK SHAFT PULLEY BUT THE D15B7 DONT.

that would be your VTEC soleniod, you can use the same harness and ecu unless its not a p28 plus the distributor that fits the y8 head. also you need 9 head bolts for the d15 and 1 from your y8 that will be for the vtec solenoid. hope it helps.

I got the block and head installed my car and like i read in a post came across the problem with the sprockets being a little off. I put the belt on anyway adjusted my valves but it did not start. should such a small degree
difference prevent my car from starting or is it something else. I am using
the ECU, Distributor from my d16y8 engine. My check engine light stays on
and my knock sensor is not hooked up. will replacing my cam shaft sprocket do the trick?

is yours adjustible? if it isnt an adjustible one is nice for fine tuning but it shouldnt prevent you from geting decent timing, loosen the bolts on your distributor enough so you can rotate it slightly, start with it turned all the way to the right, have someone else turn it over and if it doesnt start SLOWLY turn it to the left and see if it will fire up. if not you will have to set your gam gear to top dead center and its because your belt skipped a tooth

so to replace your d16y8 block you got a d15b7 block with internals? isnt that a mini swap? do you get the same pull as stock set up compared to this mini swap? lookin to do the same in my 96 ek coupe

Thumbs up Re: D16Y8 HEAD, WIRING, ECU WITH D15B7 BLOCK

92CIVICZC THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP I GOT MY CAR STARTED AND RUNNING GOOD. MY PROBLEM WAS MY PISTON RINGS. I HAD VERY LOW COMPPRESSION IN 3 OUT 4 CYLINDERS. CHANGED MY RINGS AND MY MOTOR STRARTED RIGHT UP. I WAS ABLE TO USE MY P2P ECU BY USING THE CRANK SHAFT SPOCKET FROM MY OLD D16Y8 ENGINE AND RE MOUNTING MY FLUCTUATION SENSOR ON MY NEW USED BLOCK. I NEVER INSTALL THE KNOCK SENSOR YET AND I SUSPECT ITS THE REASON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON BUT NEVER THE LESS MY CAR IS RUNNING GOOD. I HAVE MORE POWER AND BETTER GAS MILEAGE PROBABLY BECAUSE I HAD MY HEADS REDONE AND CHANGED MY RINGS. MY CAR IS FUN TO DRIVE AGAIN THANK YOU .
