Default need advice on 92 honda civic (90,000 miles on it )?

Alright so here is the deal. The other day i was at sonics (fast food) i shut off my car cuz the wait was a bit long. well when i went to start it back up it started but then quickly shut off again and it did this a few times before it was up and going again. so a few days have gone by and it starts fine no problems. well tonight i went to micky d's for late dinner after work and it did it again but this time it was harder to start. what could this problem be?

90,000 miles on a 92 is awesome!!! Did like no one ever drive this car? U live in AZ I'll buy it off u. THere are many things that could have gone wrong here. Most can be fixed cheap. Gimme a little about how it started. Did it sound like it was struggling? Maybe the battery or starter? Maybe alternator isn't charging battery well or not at all. Give me a description of the sound it was making when you tried to start it. Like a slow turn over (retarded turn over [lack for better words]).

Im going to give you some advice... A car burns less gas idling for 15 minutes than at start up. When you start a car it burns more gas than it does sitting somewhere running for a lil while. Idk what the problem could be? Hondas are usually really really reliable cars. I had a 94 honda civic with 200,000 miles and it never gave me a problem. Good luck.

could be bad spark plugs...could be bad distributor...could be bad fuel relay...could be bad fuel ill start by saying that it needs simple tune up...and also pour in some octane booster with some fuel system cleaner into the gas tank....

Everyone missed the obvious and most overlooked tune up item on ANY Honda. The FUEL Filter is clogged.Soon you won't be able to start it all.If no fuel can get to the rails, your stuck. This happens over time and doesn't get noticed untill the chugging and hesitation starts.Replace the Filter and check out how peppy the car becomes.By the way,90K miles on a 92' is pretty sweet. The warranty on a new Honda is 100K! Kudo's aside,a 17 year old filter just doesn't cut it.

It could be a variety of things. For thing to check for is CEL (Check Engine Light). If it happens to be on you should scan it and see what codes it's throwing out then you can diagnose it from there.
