if the valve hits the piston is there any indication this happen, when my car died it was quiet-when I cranked over to start just wont start no indication of anything else that I know of

have it checked/year/make/model/engine miles

a timming belt breaking can certainly bend a valve thats what happens when a valve hits a piston and on most cars today engines have no clearence so it bends valves in the head when timming belt breaks expensive repair after the fact.
