Where did you find a track that long?

Also, after you beat him, what will you do when the Camaro with a 5.7 beats you senseless?

And then the guy with the LT1?

And then the LS1?

And all the many of other cars that are still faster than a 5.0 Camaro?

For a 1.5 mile race....you're going to need a lot. And you're going to need to realize the stupidity of a 1.5 mile flat out race.

Race in something that matters. Like a circuit course. Somethat that requires driver skill, instead of the ability to hit a gas pedal.

Add a supercharger or turbocharger with lots of boost.

The Chevy 5.0L (305) engine is worthless. There's only one version of it that made any worthwhile amount of power, and it didn't come out till way after 1982. The '82 5.0L Chevy motor has about 150 hp so you don't need much to beat it. Here's what you need to do: Take out all the seats except for the driver's seat, take out the spare tire and everything in the trunk, and take everything else you can out of the car to save weight. If the car has a manual transmission, practice launching with as little wheelspin as possible and shifting as fast as possible, and make sure you hold each gear until the rpms come right up to the redline. If it's an automatic, put it in D and let it do it's thing. You'll be fine, especially on the high end. That Camaro will lose steam once it hits third gear, your Accord, even being a 4 cylinder should pull ahead.

your just gonna have to port polish the head and rebuild the bottom end with some forged pistons and rods...maybe even bore it out to a 2.3...add a turbo charger to it and boost the hell out of it..purchase a h2b kit and run a itr or a gsr tranny for faster gear ratio....strip the whole car down with nothing in the inside besides the drivers seat...this would allow you to smoke him so bad that it would make him want an import....

first, put a muffler on it with a 5 inch tip = 75 hp.

then, a mismatching body kit = 50 hp,

and finally, lots and lots of stickers = 200 hp.

and you will still be a mile behind when he finishes

I don't think it's going to happen.

How about buying a newer Accord?

It's like a 250 lb. boxer against a 110 lb. novice. The 250 lb. dude can be really out of shape, and the 110 lb boy can be a mean fighter, but chances are, the 250 lb. guy can easily pummel the little guy, unless he have a heart attack during the fight, or if he's just all fat, no muscle...

Good luck.

So a 3500 lb car is heavy? That's considered light in drag racing. That weight including a v8 engine usually makes a fast car. 3750 or more is heavy.
